Google says don’t shop online, I think

There’s so much deep irony here, I’m not at all sure what to make of this video.

It is humourous, it pokes fun at the online shopping experience and calls on businesses to make processes clearer. So far, so good.

But it was made by Google, who enforce & enable the practices that are made fun of here: log-ins and complications of multiple online personalities (ever tried to merge two Google profiles?), time-outs, pre-checked boxes in complex online forms, and then all the hassles of actually delivering that product acquired so painstakingly, in real life.

Is Google really saying “The online shopping experience is so bad, even normal supermarkets are better, so go there instead”?

I wonder, might we see Google enter the supermarket business in the near future? Probably not

Have you ever tried to keep two google profiles separate when Google really, really wants to merge them…? 🙁

hmm, no not had that. I am currently juggling two Google apps profiles plus a regular google profile though – that’s … fun! Was even more “fun” until Chrome allowed separate tabs to have separate logged-in status. I used to have to run 3 different browsers just to track things
