I put a nice bottle of unusual Rioja wine in this puzzling present. Unfortunately I now can’t remember how to get it out

Update: 03/06/2013: Phew! Thanks to a determined, clever, and thirsty wife, the bottle was extracted – from the puzzle only! In fact the wine was very delicate and tasty, considering the grape it is made from. Lots of bright purple plummy fruit and freshness which made me think more of fields of aromatic herbs than dark barrel cellars. It was a limited edition so no idea if this is still available anywhere, but worth looking up
