Doing a little sabrage – sharp knives and sparkling wine

Watch on Posterous

It was dark, wet and not all that easy to see … but when you are invited by friends such as @fredsirieix1 and @winechapUK to try your hand at Sabrage (the art/skill/party trick of opening a bottle of sparkling wine with a sword), who was I to say no?

It was a great experience, and the wine was, unusually, not a champagne but a very delicious Nyetimber Sparkling wine from ENGLAND (yes folks around the world, top class sparkling wine from THIS country!).

A great event, plus a few drinks later at Galvin at Windows where I had a great evening meeting new folks and old friends (such as @will_lyons). I was also introduced to Graeme Le Saux who turns out to be a very interesting guy (with a keen interest in wine) and real gentleman, and to several other lovely folks.

Thank you all for a great evening.

Here above, for the record, is my first (and only) attempt at sabrage
